Here we have a decent-looking 17-year old Dodge 2x4 work package pickup with a 65,000 miles. Judging by the off-center Craigslist pics (complete with license plate finger!) those miles saw a good bit of use as an actual work truck. The truck features white paint, steel wheels, yellow headlights, a mismatched topper, and not much else. It can be yours for a steep $9,000 because he knows what he has.

My runner-up was a 2002 Astro cargo van with bro rims and Euro tail lights for a similar price...
Using the search criteria “I know what I have” (quotation marks necessary to search the exact phrase) on your local cars+trucks by owner, locate the most mediocre, yet optimistically-priced example and share your results.

Not on Craigslist, but there’s an 85 f250 for sale near me that has 85k miles, 4x4, and has a 460, it’s in good shape, but the guy is asking 8500 for it. Based on the price he is a firmly in the “I know what I have” category

Two pictures, one of which shows bizarre wires? hanging down and a cracked interior. Noting in the ad except that it has some rust and runs.
I have no idea how much these are worth, but there’s only three hits in Houston, this, a $6500 ‘09 Prius and a $10000 ‘74 Karmann Ghia.
There’s also this, which given that it is posted in the car section indicates that despite what he says, he doesn’t know what he has:

Slight technically, he says “I know what it’s worth” but I think this fit. Claims it makes over 1,400 hp with no mention of aftermarket turbos. JDM engine, yeah sure that makes it valuable, the shock tower braces “Take up the sway of the Targa top” and NGK-V power plugs for the for the larger aftermarket intercooler. That last one may be legit since I don’t know much about turbos. It also has a Traction Control delete although I doubt this had that in the first place.

I lived in Minnesota for the first 22 years of my life. I never realized how bad the rust was on EVERYTHING (especially stuff in the Twin Cities area) until I left the rust belt behind. I miss Minnesota, but I do enjoy being able to drive a car I care about 365 days per year. When my wife wanted to move to the PNW the first thing I did was Google “do they salt the roads in Oregon?”

My value was all in the Diesel engine. This guy has the most basic truck and it has the Magnum. I would say his truck is worth about 1/2 what he asking, and even that might be optimistic. Before it ended up in an accident, I had looked to upgrade(a year or so earlier), and the value of my truck at the time was about $13,000, mostly due to the the Cummins. This guy does not even have that going for him.
I was not driving this fateful day, and it is the last time I ever let someone use my vehicle, even if they were family. Not the phone call you want to get... “I totaled your truck and we are stranded with the trailer on the side of the highway.” That day sucked, but on the plus side, I got a newish truck. Downside, I got the payments to go with it.
